چکیده

Multidrug-resistant (MDR) and pathogenic E. faecium is a crisis in healthcare settings. This survey aimed at antibiotic susceptibility profiling virulence determinants of faecium. study pooled 100 fecal isolates identified by phenotypic molecular tests. Antibiotic ampicillin MIC were determined according to clinical laboratory standards institute (CLSI) 2017. Moreover, biofilm formation was assayed microtiter tissue plate assay. Virulence genes pattern performed polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method. Among 460 samples, identified, among which the highest resistance related penicillin (81%), cephalothin (78%), cefazolin (76%), tetracycline cefepime (69%). In contrast, 83% them susceptible vancomycin. four vancomycin-resistant had vancomycin MIC>32µg/mL, 11 MIC>8µg/mL. Of 32 ampicillin-resistant isolates, 18 (56%) produced strong biofilm, 14 (44%) moderate biofilm. 17 (VREfa), 15 (88.23%) biofilms, two moderate-level significantly higher than (p=0.0144). Presence of virulence factors in Enterococcus faecalis and Enterococcus faecium susceptible and resistant to vancomycin

Despite the increasing importance of Enterococcus as opportunistic pathogens, their virulence factors are still poorly understood. This study determines the frequency of virulence factors in clinical and commensal Enterococcus isolates from inpatients in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Fifty Enterococcus isolates were analysed and the presence of the gelE, asa1 and esp genes was determined. Gelatinase ac...

prevalence of virulence factors and vancomycin-resistant genes among enterococcus faecalis and e. faecium isolated from clinical specimens

background: the aim of this study was to determine the occurrence of virulence determinants and vancomycin- resistant genes among enterococcus faecalis and e. faecium obtained from various clinical sources. methods: the study was performed on the 280 enterococcal isolated from clinical specimens in hamadan hospitals, western iran in 2012-14. antibiotic susceptibility testing was performed using...

Characterization of vancomycin resistance in Enterococcus faecium and Enterococcus faecalis.

Vancomycin resistance in Enterococcus faecium 180, a clinical isolate from England, was studied. Resistance to vancomycin was transferable by conjugation to other enterococci. Expression of resistance was inducible and coincided with the appearance of a new membrane protein.

Molecular characterization of vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium isolates from Bermuda

Molecular characteristics of vancomycin resistant enterococci isolates from Bermuda Island is currently unknown. This study was conducted to investigate phenotypic and genotypic characteristics of VRE isolates from Bermuda Island using the chromogenic agar, E-tests, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) and multilocus sequence typing (MLST). Eighteen E. faeciu...

Colonial variation in vancomycin resistant Enterococcus faecium.

Vancomycin resistant enterococci are increasingly being isolated from inpatients. This report describes the colonial variation present in most isolates of vancomycin resistant Enterococcus faecium obtained at this hospital. Colonial variants within the same culture were indistinguishable by antimicrobial susceptibility, biochemical reactions, and ribotyping. Failure to appreciate this colonial ...
